New York Summer Workshop - Summer in the city
New York City, August 17-24, 2011
The purpose of this eight-day workshop is to give participants a taste of the life of an actor in New York.
In addition to a full and varied program of classes, taught by New York based artists along with Sarah Eigerman, consultations with theatre professionals and exploration of New York’s cultural scene are an integral part of the program.
Program
The classes introduce a variety of techniques, all focused on an organic approach to the actor's creative process, including: sensory exploration, improvisation and theatre games, personalization and functionnal script analytsis.
Participants will also have the opportunity to take a dance and/or song class.
Planned visits includes: a meeting with a representative of Actor's Equity (the stage actors union); a visit to the Theatre Communications Group; observation of a session at the Actor's Studio; guided walks through the theatre district; Wall Street and Tribecca. An important feature of the program is the assignment to audition for one of the productions written up in the "trades" (specializded newspapers for actors).
